Disney World has several exciting projects in the works right now, but while we wait for them to open, we have to deal with some closures and construction. That’s the price of progress! If you’re planning a trip to Disney World, you might want to take a look at what’s under construction ahead of time. Luckily, our weekly refurbishment update fills you in on all the current refurbishments at Disney World so you know exactly what to expect.
Let’s take a look at everything that will be closed at Disney World from March 14th to March 20th, 2022.
Magic Kingdom Refurbishments
Walt Disney World Railroad
the Walt Disney World Railroad in the MagicKingdom is (still) unavailable. It’s been closed for over two years and will remain unavailable as Disney continues to work on the new TRON roller coaster. Disney’s TRON construction is blocking a portion of the train tracks, so until construction gets out of the way, the railroad will remain closed.
Disney has not shared an opening date for TRON: Lightcycle Run, but we’ll continue to look for updates.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Refurbishments
Speaking of attractions that have been closed for a while, Expedition Everest — Legend of the Forbidden Mountain in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is unavailable for a long-term refurbishment. It’s been closed since January 4th, and the refurbishment project is expected to take about 3 months. The good news is that if all goes according to plan, the attraction should be up and running soon.
Disney has not provided an official opening date yet, but the Disney World website states that the closure should last through mid-April 2022.

Souk Al Magreb
The Morocco pavilion is located in the EPCOT World Showcase, and this area is filled with beautiful architecture and art. The pavilion’s Souk-Al-Magreb gift shop is currently closed with no reopening date currently listed.
A few months ago, the shop was set to open in February, but since then the closure has been indefinitely extended. We’ll be sure to fill you in with any updates!
Disney World Water Park Refurbishments
Blizzard Beach Water Park
Now that spring has arrived, many people are bringing their bathing suits to Disney World and looking for a place to cool off! Unfortunately, Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is closed for seasonal refurbishments.
Luckily, Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is open! Disney hasn’t shared a reopening date for Blizzard Beach, but we’ll keep our eyes out for updates!

Disney’s Grand Florida Resort
Prepare to see some construction walls; work recently started on Disney’s large DVC refurbishment project at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
Building 9 (Big Pine Key) is currently under construction as Disney converts its rooms to roughly 200 new Resort Studios that can accommodate up to five guests. Note that during this time, guests may see and hear active construction, although most hotel amenities will remain available throughout the construction project.
