Walt Disney World Wait Times for Memorial Day Week 2022

The holidays have ended at Walt Disney World, signifying the unofficial but all-too-real start of the summer season.

This past week included a four-day holiday that should have caused more pronounced crowds at the parks.

In addition, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind just opened at EPCOT. Its arrival should have a significant impact across the Disney campus…but did it?

Let’s find out in the latest batch of Walt Disney World wait times for Memorial Day Weekend 2022.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

We always use Avatar Flight of Passage as a guideline, but it’s especially essential today.

For the past week, the anchor attraction at Animal Kingdom averaged a wait of 133 minutes. That’s an increase of…41 minutes.

Okay, if you want to stop reading right now and go play outside, I understand. Things are looking grim.

Was the rest of Animal Kingdom up significantly, too? Here’s the list:

  • Na’vi River Journey – 83 minutes, up 10
  • Kilimanjaro Safaris – 67 minutes, up to 14
  • Expedition Everest – 42 minutes, up 5
  • DINOSAUR – 33 minutes, up 3
  • It’s Tough to Be a Bug! – 18 minutes, up to 5
  • Tricera Top Spin – 14 minutes, down 1

So, if you like the bug show and DinoLand USA, your visit was fine. Otherwise, you may have grimaced some.

Animal Kingdom attractions averaged a 57-minute wait, an 11-minute increase from last time.

That’s legitimately one of the largest average wait times you’ll ever notice at this park.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Given the above, I almost want to take a mental health day rather than talk about the wait times at Hollywood Studios. I’m already an Atlanta Falcons fan. Haven’t I suffered enough?

Seriously, here’s the most significant attraction data. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance averaged a wait of 117 minutes, which is…down 20 minutes?!

Don’t get too excited, though. The news isn’t as positive at the rest of the park. Here are the other wait times:

  • Twilight Zone of Terror – 112 minutes, up to 2
  • Slinky Dog Dash – 108 minutes, up to 23
  • Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run – 83 minutes, up 13
  • Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith – 66 minutes, down 12
  • Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway – 65 minutes, up 2

Obviously, that’s a decidedly mixed message overall. If you were in Toy Story Land last week, you likely grit your teeth a lot.

Overall, eight attractions required a wait of 60+ minutes, which is…a lot. Hollywood Studios experiences averaged a wait of 61 minutes, though.

As a reminder, that’s roughly the same time as Animal Kingdom, and the rides are MUCH better at Hollywood Studios. It legitimately could have been worse.

I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while now. Of course, we won’t have Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind data yet.

You can only ride the new roller coaster via virtual queue or Lightning Lane. Still, new E-ticket rides often come with a halo effect for the rest of the park.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure didn’t have much of one, at least not that I could track.

Conversely, the new rides at Hollywood Studios all caused a bump. In truth, we’re still feeling the ripple effects today.

So, what happened at EPCOT? Let’s see…

  • Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure – 90 minutes, up to 18
  • Frozen Ever After – 80 minutes, up to 9
  • Test Track – 77 minutes, up to 16
  • Mission: SPACE – 46 minutes, up to 21
  • Soarin’ Around the World – 41 minutes, up 6
  • Royal Sommerhus – 34 minutes, up to 11
  • Journey into Imagination with Figment – 25 minutes, up to 12
  • Living with the Land – 21 minutes, up to 3
  • Spaceship Earth – 20 minutes, up 5
  • The Seas with Nemo & Friends – 18 minutes, up to 12
  • Turtle Talk with Crush – 16 minutes, up to 6
  • Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros – 10 minutes, up to 3

Overall, the non-Guardians attractions averaged a wait of 42 minutes, an increase of 12 minutes from last time.

Now, I should remind you that it was a holiday weekend on top of Cosmic Rewind’s debut. So, we don’t know how much each one impacts the overall picture.

What I will highlight is that Mission: SPACE, which resides close to Cosmic Rewind, saw a massive bump. I don’t think that’s coincidental.

Ok, all the other parks are way up this week. As such, we have a good idea about what’s about to happen. Here’s the data:

  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train – 77 minutes, down 3
  • Jungle Cruise – 72 minutes, up to 7
  • Peter Pan’s Flight – 70 minutes, up to 2
  • Splash Mountain – 66 minutes, up 2
  • Space Mountain – 49 minutes, down 6
  • Haunted Mansion – 47 minutes, down 2
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad – 45 minutes, up to 8

  • Mad Tea Party – 14 minutes, down 1
  • Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover – 12 minutes, down 6
  • Country Bear Jamboree – 5 minutes, no change
  • Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress – 5 minutes, no change

Overall, Magic Kingdom rides came with an average wait in line of 38 minutes, up three minutes. Honestly, compared to the rest, that’s not bad at all.

This drives home the point that Magic Kingdom’s depth continues to be its greatest asset as a theme park.
