Walt Disney World Wait Times for the Fourth Week of May 2022

Memorial Day Weekend arrives on Friday. Historically, that date has functioned as the unofficial opening of Disney’s summer vacation season.

So, this week’s waiting times should count as the calm before the storm. But did they?

Read on to find out whether people flocked to Walt Disney World this week.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Let’s take our usual approach by starting with Avatar Flight of Passage. The crown jewel of Pandora – The World of Avatar averaged a wait of 92 minutes.

That’s a 10-minute increase from last time, which honestly doesn’t surprise me.

I actually expect to wait longer times this week. In the past, Disney has experienced an uptick after mid-May.

That’s what I anticipate today, although the data often surprises me. Here are the rest of Animal Kingdom’s average waits:

  • Na’vi River Journey – 73 minutes, up 6
  • Kali River Rapids – 55 minutes, up 22
  • Kilimanjaro Safaris – 53 minutes, no change
  • Expedition Everest – 37 minutes, up 6
  • DINOSAUR – 30 minutes, up 11
  • Tricera Top Spin – 15 minutes, up 5
  • It’s Tough to Be a Bug! – 13 minutes up to 4

Overall, guests waited an average of 46 minutes to ride Animal Kingdom attractions. That is an increase of 10 minutes from last time. Alright, yikes!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Did Disney’s most crowded park experience similar growth? Well, normalcy has returned, as Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance once again requires the longest wait.

Overall, the average Hollywood Studios attraction required a wait of 57 minutes, an increase of one minute from last time.

Based on the first half of the data, crowds were definitely up at Walt Disney World. But we still have two parks to discuss!

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind hasn’t officially opened yet. So, this park technically didn’t list its wait times.

However, Disney has hosted several sneaks throughout the past two weeks. This aspect has caused more guests than usual to spend at EPCOT.

Did that extra incentive lead to longer waits? Short answer: yes. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is back on top of this week with a 72-minute wait.

That’s an increase of seven minutes from last time. However, the interesting part is that Frozen Ever After is right behind it at 71 minutes. So it’s gone up by three minutes.

Was everything else at EPCOT more crowded? Here’s the data:

  • Test Track – 61 minutes, up to 7
  • Soarin’ Around the World – 35 minutes, up to 8
  • Mission: SPACE – 25 minutes, up to 11
  • Royal Sommerhus – 23 minutes, down 7

  • Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros – 7 minutes, down 1

Okay, most of that looks more than acceptable. Still, the overall EPCOT average wait was 30 minutes. That’s a modest five-minute increase.

Suffice to say that these numbers will look much different in the coming weeks as Cosmic Rewind blows the curve at EPCOT.

So, Magic Kingdom rides averaged a 35-minute wait, an increase of four minutes from last time.

Trend spotters will notice that the wet rides soared in popularity as the weather grew hotter. Unfortunately, that behavior will only increase for the next 10 weeks.

Otherwise, the growth was relatively modest at all the parks but Animal Kingdom. EPCOT’s about to get crazy, though.
