Walt Disney World Wait Times for the Third Week of May 2022

Since the Easter holiday, Walt Disney World has slowed down at the parks.

Sure, the place still qualifies as mobbed compared to five years ago – or last year – but the crowds haven’t been high lately.

Disney may not have an offseason now, but it’s definitely slower in May than April as a rule.

Did that trend continue this past week? Let’s find out in the latest Walt Disney World wait times for the third week of May 2022!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Avatar Flight of Passage has trended down the past few weeks. The ride averaged a wait of only 87 minutes last time, which is really good for it.

Over the past seven days, that number dropped again to 82 minutes. That will probably stand as one of the lowest average weekly wait times of 2022.

Here are the other waits at Animal Kingdom this past week:

  • Na’vi River Journey – 67 minutes, down 1
  • Kilimanjaro Safaris – 53 minutes, no change
  • Kali River Rapids – 33 minutes, down 8
  • Expedition Everest – 29 minutes, down 7
  • DINOSAUR – 19 minutes, down 6
  • Tricera Top Spin – 10 minutes, down 3
  • It’s Tough to Be a Bug! – 9 minutes, down 2

Overall, that’s terrific news for Animal Kingdom visitors last week. The park attractions averaged a 36-minute wait, a drop of five minutes from last time.

Odds are good that people rode everything but the big three in half an hour or less. At Walt Disney World, that’s an ideal park visit.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios Wait Times

This park will lose a bit of its luster in two weeks. That’s when Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will open.

At that point, the demand for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance should taper off a bit.

Honestly, we’re already witnessing that trend. For the second straight week, the attraction with the longest wait time is the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

The Rod Serling ride averaged a wait of 100 minutes, which is terrible for it. As MickeyBlog has discussed, Disney is only operating one side at times.

Whenever that happens, the waits swell in size. Tower of Terror actually increased six minutes from last time, the first attraction this week to do so.

As for Rise of the Resistance, it also went up from 85 to 97 minutes. So, we’re trending in the wrong direction at Hollywood Studios.

Here’s everything else at the park:

  • Slinky Dog Dash – 87 minutes, up 9
  • Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run – 61 minutes, up 2
  • Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway – 60 minutes, up to 9
  • Toy story mania! – 59 minutes, up 3
  • Red Carpet Dreams – 58 minutes, down 5
  • Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith – 56 minutes, up 1
  • Alien Swirling Saucers – 42 minutes, down 4
  • Walt Disney Presents with Sulley – 36 minutes, up 1
  • Celebrity Spotlight – 27 minutes, down 3
  • Star Tours – The Adventures Continue! – 19 minutes, up 2
  • Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy – 15 minutes, up 6
  • Muppet*Vision 3D – 10 minutes, no change

So, yeah, that’s pretty ugly. Wait times increased to an average of 56 minutes, which isn’t out of line at all for Hollywood Studios.

However, that total does represent an increase of 12 minutes from the previous week.

I guess word got out that Hollywood Studios crowds were light, which caused everyone to go.

EPCOT Wait Times

For the past several weeks, Frozen Ever After has flip-flopped with the newest ride at the park, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.

Both of them will cede their spots when the new alpha, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, debuts.

For now, Frozen Ever After has claimed slightly longer lines than its counterpart. The Arendelle attraction averaged a 68-minute wait, a drop of two minutes.

Meanwhile, Ratatouille ever so slightly increased to 65 minutes from 64 minutes last time.

I don’t have a guess on average wait times for Cosmic Rewind yet, but it’s gonna be a VERY large number. The sneak previews have been mobbed.

Anyway, here’s everything else at EPCOT:

  • Test track – 54 minutes, down 1
  • Royal Sommerhus – 30 minutes, up to 4
  • Soarin’ Around the World – 27 minutes, no change
  • Mission: SPACE – 14 minutes, down 2
  • Spaceship Earth – 12 minutes, down 2
  • Living with the Land – 11 minutes, down 2
  • Turtle Talk with Crush – 10 minutes, no change
  • The Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros – 8 minutes, no change
  • Journey into Imagination with Figment – 8 minutes, down 1
  • The Seas with Nemo & Friends – 7 minutes, down 5

Journey into Imagination

Obviously, this is the type of wait time data we all like to see. EPCOT attractions averaged a 25-minute wait, down two minutes from last time.

More importantly, a whopping seven (!) attractions required a wait of 15 minutes or less. That often means walk-ons for guests.

So, if you spent time at EPCOT last week, you’re probably a lot happier than the Hollywood Studios crew.

  • Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress – 4 minutes, no change

Overall, the Magic Kingdom waits were comically even. The park’s attractions averaged a 31-minute wait, the same as last time.

This trend likely continues for another week. Then, during Memorial Day Weekend, everything starts to change.
