Is there anything better than spending the holiday season at Walt Disney World? I honestly cannot think of anything, at least not vacation related.
Of course, late December can get wild in Orlando. That’s why Disney veterans know the best time to visit the parks.
What’s Disney like in November 2022? It’s the best. Allow me to explain why.
Let’s Talk about November Visits
Wherever you live, the temperature drops substantially as the calendar moves deeper into fall.
In Central Florida, 70-degree weather is a fact of life. So, one of the best parts of a November visit is the weather.
You’re escaping coldness and possibly even snow to go somewhere sunny. It’ll lift your spirits.
However, great weather only scratches the surface of the appeal of Walt Disney World in November.
The parks host two different festivals, while Halloween decorations make way for yuletide lights.
Cast members start the conversion on November 1Stalthough it usually takes a few days to decorate everywhere at Walt Disney World.
For this reason, a vacation that starts at the end of October and lasts into November proves ideal. You’ll experience the best of both worlds!
In October, Halloween decorations will entertain you, as will Disney After Hours – Boo Bash.
Then, after the witching hour strikes on Halloween, the parks switch straight to Christmas. It’s THE most magical time at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
Let’s talk about the weather
Folks, I’ll say this sincerely. Unless you live in Hawaii or arguably California, the November weather in Florida is nicer than where you live.
The average high temperature hovers around 75 degrees, ranging from 66 to 86 degrees.
Meanwhile, the average low temperature is 58 degrees. According to historical data, Orlando rarely dips below 46 degrees.
In fact, the average low temperature is sometimes as much as 72 degrees. So, we have a daily climate range of 58 to 75 degrees.
In other words, Orlando weather is as close to perfect as possible in November.
According to WeatherSpark:
“The month of November in Orlando experiences essentially constant cloud cover, with the percentage of time that the sky is overcast or mostly cloudy remaining about 39% throughout the month.”
That’s a nice way of saying that the sunlight won’t melt you. Instead, the clouds protect you from perennial hot weather.
Conversely, the temperatures rarely grow so cold that you’ll need even a light jacket.
I will add that Central Florida experienced an unusual cold spell early in 2022, but that shouldn’t factor into November discussions.
Let’s talk about Disney events in November
November works differently than any other month on the annual calendar at Walt Disney World.
I say this because three different events occur during this month, albeit nonconsecutively.
At the start of November, EPCOT will still host the 2022 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. Disney hasn’t confirmed the dates yet for this year’s event, but the 2021 version lasted into mid-November.
Then, EPCOT closed this exhibition, only to replace it with the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays.
This process will repeat in 2022. So, depending on your timing, you could feasibly experience both Food & Wine AND the Festival of the Holidays.
The only catch involves the length of your stay. In 2021, Food & Wine ended on November 20th. Then, the Festival of the Holidays arrived on November 26th.
Ergo, you’ll likely need to spend at least a week at Walt Disney World to visit both festivals.
Let’s Talk About Even More Disney Events in November!
Speaking of which, EPCOT also hosts a beloved entertainment event each November/December.
I’m referencing the Candlelight Processional, which returned in 2021 after skipping 2020.
Disney’s retelling of The Nativity Story highlights some of Orlando’s finest musicians and singers.
Shows usually begin in or around Thanksgiving. By the way, I should mention that Walt Disney World will delight you during this holiday.
Many of the restaurants offer Thanksgiving dinner or other unique holiday menus/items.
So, around this time, the Festival of the Holidays will begin…but it won’t be the only holiday event of note!
In 2021, Disney introduced Disney Very Merriest After Hours, the spiritual successor to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
This after-hours event includes all the wonderful parades and shows that you expect at Magic Kingdom over the holidays.
Best of all, you don’t have to wait until December to go! The event started on November 8th in 2021! Expect a similar timeframe for November 2022.
Let’s talk about Central Florida events in November
Sports fans will discover plenty of options, presuming you’re willing to leave the Walt Disney World campus.
The Orlando Magic’s season will start by November. So, you’ll find five or six home games as entertainment.
The 2022-2023 schedule isn’t published yet. Ergo, I cannot be any more specific than that.
As for Orlando City SC, the playoffs begin in mid-October. A LOT would have to go right for them to play any home games in November.
However, the UCF Knights will play at least one home game against Navy that month.
They’ll also have a road game in Tampa Bay if you don’t mind the drive.
Of course, if you’re going to do that, you might as well watch the Bucs play. Tom Brady ain’t getting any younger.
The best news for a November vacation applies mainly to Broadways fans…or anybody else who admires greatness.
Hamilton (!) will run from October 26th through November 20th. You can catch the current touring company’s performance at Dr. Phillips Center.
Even if you’ve watched Hamilton on Disney+, you should attend the play as well. It’s a stunning visual treat.
The spinning stage and deft set changes will blow your mind on top of the sublime soundtrack.
I rarely leave the Disney Bubble while in Orlando, but I’d happily make an exception for Hamilton!
I’m devout in the belief that the best two times to visit Disney each year are September after Labor Day and Halloween through the first week of November.
Those are the times when the parks offer the most, while the weather proves agreeable.A November vacation at Walt Disney World will fulfill all your hopes and dreams!
